№ 08 — The Project

The design of the recreational space at Shree Vishwa Apartments was to encapsulate a little something for users of all ages. Laid out as intersecting circles encompassing different spaces, this project was built keeping the residents’ usability in primary focus.

The largest circle consists of the children’s play area which doubles as an interactive sand pit. The placement of the sand creates an additional stimulant for the young minds at play. Once outside the play area, two large rectangular turfs were laid perpendicular to each other - one as a cricket pitch and the other as a multi-sport field.

The pockets between these turfs and the children’s playground becomes the strategic pavement that doubles as a walking track and an interaction space for middle-aged and senior users. This walkway ends at the place between two curved walls, creating a staged amphitheatre with a grand space frame above.

This amphitheatre steps into a lavish lawn, perfect for parties and small functions. One edge of the lawn houses a green gym, for outdoor exercising. A closed semicircular space, holding an ornamental tree and boulder backed by curved short walls, are framed with the lawn in the background as an entrance sculpture for anyone entering the property.

Monochromatic curved walls of varying heights have been used to differentiate the spaces. Small, rectangular and colour frames into these walls create visual connections across the entire landscape. The curved language of the walls is reflected in the arched benches placed across the entire area, to allow an immersive experience and a resting point for the users.

The singular colour palette of the paving, stone, and the walls is punctured only by the green lawn, a variety of trees in the green pockets around the walkways, and the colourful children’s equipment.
